With many areas of the country experiencing freezing temperatures, it’s hard to believe that spring–and warmer weather–are just months away. If you want to be enjoying your very own backyard swimming pool during the best and warmest months of the year, now is the time to start thinking about it and planning so you can make the most of pool season. To get you started, we’ve put together a list of considerations to think about while it’s still chilly outside.
1. Determine what your life of leisure looks like
A good place to start is to think about how you envision your life and where the pool fits in. At Leisure Pools, we create beautifully designed, high-quality pools that will provide a lifetime of enjoyment, fond memories and valuable time with friends and loved ones. Your pool enables you to have a life of leisure whether you’re relaxing and unwinding beside your beautiful pool, enjoying a pool-side staycation or entertaining your family. People have different visions of what they want their pool, and life around the pool, to be. It’s helpful to think about that as it will help guide some of your choices in the pool design.
2. Consider how you’ll be using your pool
Our swimming pools are built for a lifetime of use, so it’s important to think about how you plan to use your pool and which features are the best fit for that usage. Leisure Pools designs pools with a variety of different features that can fit any need or desire. For example, if you plan to use your pool for lap swimming, you’ll want a pool with an unobstructed swim corridor. If you plan to use your pool for pool games, water jogging and water aerobics, you may want a flat-bottom pool. If you desire a diving board, you’ll want a pool with a deep enough depth. If you enjoy basking in the sun, you may want a pool with a tanning ledge. If you’re looking for an abundance of features, you may desire a pool with a pool-and-spa combination that also has a splash pad. Visit our gallery of pool designs and see which pools have the features and functionality you’re looking for.
3. Do you have pets or young children?
If you have young children, a pool with a splash pad or tanning ledge is a great fit since it provides a 12″ consistent shallow depth this works well as a play area. It’s also nice for dogs to enjoy! All of our pools come with a safety ledge around the perimeter of the pool. This is helpful for small children to hold onto as they learn to swim and build their strength in the water.
4. Do you desire a spa?
In addition to pools, Leisure Pools offers spas that provide warm, massaging water. Spas are wonderful in the winter time or at night, and if you suffer from sore muscles or joints, they’re great any time during the year. Leisure Pools offers the Sorrento Spa (in square and round), or, you can choose from one of our pools that has a pool-and-spa combination, like the Allure, Icon, Ultimate or Limitless.
A permit is required for the installation of a swimming pool. You can utilize the winter months to learn more about permits, since a permit must be in place before installation can begin. You can contact your local municipality to find out more about permits, or ask your Leisure Pools dealer.
6. Start brainstorming how you might landscape
Landscaping plays a huge role in the overall look of your pool space. Now is a good time to start thinking how you envision your space looking, and your choice of plants, trees, flowers and landscaping design can make a huge difference. Hiring a landscape design company can be helpful. The designer can look at your property and help you plan out the right layout and plants, taking into account your taste and preferences.
7. What is your budget?
It’s good to have a budget in mind that you’d like to adhere to. This can help in your choice of pool, and it’s also helpful to have a budget for landscaping, decor and pool furniture.
